How to send links from PC to phone browser with mobile codes

I often want to get a link from my PC onto my mobile phone and the easiest way is to use mobile codes (or 2D barcodes) which the phone camera can grab using a program such as i-nigma.

I previously did this by cutting and pasting the link into the Nokia mobile code page but the process can be speeded up using firefox bookmark keywords.
  • Create a firefox bookmark with this address and give it the keyword "mc":
    http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/dm?BARCODE=%s&X=0.18&name=&type=link&MODE=TEXT&a=view
or alternatively a keyword for the i-nigma service would be:
    http://encode.i-nigma.com/QRCode/img.php?d=URL%3A%s&c=&s=4

  • If a page is a bit heavy for a mobile browser, this firefox keyword gets us straight to a code for the mobilised version (keyword "gmc"):
    http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/dm?BARCODE=http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=%s&X=0.18&name=&type=link&MODE=TEXT&a=view
So if I see a page I want to read on the phone:
  1. I go the the address bar in firefox and press <home>
  2. type mc <space> (or gmc <space>) and press <return> and there is the mobile code!
  3. point the reader on my phone the mobile code and the link is passed to the browser
NB - I would prefer to use mowser.com for the mobilising step but 3UK
unfortunately block it :( The firefox keyword for mowser would be
http://mowser.com/web/%s
